The Souls Of Rain by Diana Nixon

The Souls of Rain (Heavens Trilogy, #1)By Diana Nixon

Synopsis
The secrets of the heavens had always been carefully guarded. Until one day when the angels realized that what they used to believe in was nothing but a cruel game between heaven and hell.
And Claire’s life is a part of that game too. She is a guardian angel.
She always thought that her existence was perfect. But perfection is a very relative term, and no one is protected from making mistakes.

Everything changes the moment Claire gets a new assignment. Guarding humans has never been easy, and this time won’t be an exception.

Alan Rosenford is a spoilt party-boy, whose life is a hurricane of risk and adrenaline rush. His soul is damaged, his heart is bleeding, and there are so many things he prefers to keep private….

The words they have never said before …
The sins they have never committed….

How much does forgiveness of the heavens cost?
Or maybe even the heavens make mistakes?....

Teaser:

The moment I opened my eyes and found myself in the hospital ward, I wanted to kill Nolan….
He was sitting on Alan’s bed and — God, help me watching the poor guy drinking scotch!
“What do you think you are doing?” I hissed into his ear.
“Oh, hey, Sweetie! We’ve been waiting for you. What the hell took you so long?”
I stared at the two of them. Am I hallucinating?
“I don’t think so,” Nolan chuckled, at my mental question. Of course, I forgot about his ability to read minds.
“I thought you couldn’t do that anymore,” I said, my hands on my hips.
“I can do whatever I want,” he winked at me.
“Great. And that’s why you let the demon take control over him?” I pointed angrily to the bottle in Alan’s hands.
No, Dear. I let my angelic compassion win. Look at him! The guy looks like shit! Trust me, alcohol — is exactly what he needs right now.”
“I can’t believe I actually let you stay with him.”
“There’s nothing to worry about, Claire. I would have never let anything bad happen to him.”
I looked at Alan again. His eyes were half-closed and he was obviously enjoying his drink.
“Where did he get scotch anyway?”
“I asked the nurse to bring it.”
“You what?”
“Don’t get mad. It was the only remedy that could help him.”
“You used your powers to make the nurse bring him a drink? Ugh, who on earth let you keep your powers?”
“You know, if I were you, I would stop asking these stupid questions, because Alan can hear everything you are saying.”
“What?
“Yes, he can see you and he can hear you. But he’s too intoxicated by the drugs and scotch to give a damn. Probably thinks he’s hallucinating.”
“Oh, no…this is not happening. Why me?”
“Calm down, Claire. He will be sober by tomorrow morning. I think you should come up with a very believable explanation of your stay here. Because he will start asking questions.”
“You are not helping, you know?” I crossed my arms and went to the chair near the opposite wall. “What am I supposed to tell him?”
“How about introducing yourself first?” Nolan smiled at me.
“If I were not an angel, I would have already smashed your smiling face,” I snapped, meeting his joyful eyes.
“Next time you face a demon, imagine it’s me that you are killing. That would definitely make you feel better.”
“Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Thanks for your advice, Nolan.”
“Anytime, Dear.”
